ARTISTICALLY, STRATEGICALLY AND OPERATIONALLY.

REPORTING TO: CEO OF SICCDA

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL:

The Liberties Festival is a multidisciplinary community festival
delivered by SICCDA & Robert Emmet CDP with primary funding received
from Dublin City Council (DCC) & Diageo with additional support from
local business.

The Festival was initiated in the *’s by a
group of voluntary community members and has been managed by SICCDA
since the organisations foundation in *.

Over the years, the festival has worked with many collaborators and
partners to express the positive and ever evolving culture of The
Liberties area of Dublin and has supported a number of local and
regional artists and performers in the creation of work.

The festival is now moving in to a new phase, and is looking for a
dynamic Festival Director to lead this transition.

EMPLOYMENT TERM: 1 Year April, dependent on funding this will be
extended to 3 years.

The contract will be for an average of 3 days per week.

Festival Director will develop an understanding of appropriate
breakdown of working time time across the one year period with SICCDA
CEO i.e. - 4 / 5 days per week may be required in direct lead in to
festival while 1/2 days per week are likely to suffice in direct
aftermath of festival

Working times will include evenings and weekends where required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Shapes the overall strategic direction of The Liberties Festival
* Development of Mechanism for Community Stakeholder Input into
Festival i.e. Development of Festival Committee
* Leads the organization, and is responsible for its overall
delivery, development, and financial well‐being.
* Develops and delivers a flagship festival that has local and
regional significance and that celebrates The Liberties
* Positions The Liberties Festival as a leading festival that
presents, commissions and produces great work while acting as a
platform for the Liberties Community to express it’s identity
* Champions diversity, equality, inclusion and removes barriers to
access for performers and audiences

The key duties of this role are STRATEGIC PLANNING, PROGRAMMING,
DEVELOPMENT AND LEADERSHIP

OVERVIEW

* Define the strategic vision for The Liberties Festival as a
dynamic, forward looking and engaging festival and leading curated
multi-disciplinary performing arts festival in Dublin
* Produce and present a programme annually seeking out work that
impacts, entertains and engages with audiences and communities.
* Direct and executive produce all aspects of the festival.
* Develop relationships and collaborations with local stakeholders
and artists, combined with other partners and artists nationally and
internationally.
* Champion the festival at local, national and international levels
* Grow and strengthen The Liberties Festival, its vision and all its
activities
* Fulfill any other duties as may be required by SICCDA CEO as they
arise in an ever changing and evolving landscape

PROGRAMMING

* Research, curate, programme, and deliver a multi-disciplinary
programme of artistic excellence.
* Commit to artist and art form development across the festival.
* Ensure inclusion and participation is embedded in the festival
programme, engaging with artists, communities, and audiences.
* Partner with existing local stakeholders; whilst also seeking new
partners, and artistic collaborators.

FINANCIAL CONTROL, MANAGEMENT AND STRATEGY

* Work with SICCDA CEO to assess current strategic plans,
identifying and devising opportunities for improvement.
* Plan and implement annual budgets, overseeing income and
expenditure, ensuring robust financial management strategies, and
long‐term sustainable financial planning — all in consultation
with SICCDA CEO
* Support SICCDA CEO in ensuring best practice in corporate
governance, in line with all legislation and guidelines for
managements of arts organisations and registered charities
* Overall management of teams, finances and contracts Deliver the
Festival programme on time and on budget

OPERATIONAL

* Ensure the Festival’s objectives and activities are communicated
effectively to all stakeholders, working with the board to ensure
excellent customer service is delivered on a consistent basis
* Negotiate agreements and contracts with partners, and artists,
ensuring the administration of same are implemented with companies,
suppliers, venues and strategic and funding partners

FUNDRAISING AND DEVELOPMENT

* Strengthen and consolidate relationships with core funders
including DCC and Diageo
* Complete submissions of all funding applications and ensure
reporting for strategic planning and development of existing, new and
potential income strands
* Identify and develop new income generation and fundraising
activities in conjunction with SICCDA CEO
* With SICCDA CEO, define a process to cultivate, secure and manage
relationships with commercial sponsors and corporate partners
* Identify and develop relationships with strategic partners, in
both the public and private sector, to enhance and deliver the
Festival’s primary objectives, proactively engaging with the
business and not‐for‐profit community on behalf of The Liberties
Festival

MARKETING AND COMMUNICATION

* Build and oversee the successful implementation of comprehensive
marketing and PR strategies and budgets

ADVOCACY

* Seek opportunities, advocate, and champion for The Liberties
Festival
* Attend networking events as required
* Advocate for the arts both locally and nationally, particularly at
governmental level and also in the business, not‐for‐profit and
other related communities

PERSON SPECIFICATION

We are looking for someone with vision to take on this exciting and
challenging role. As an organization based in The Liberties area of
Dublin, the ideal person should be able to work remotely but also on
site throughout the year, especially in the lead up to the festival.

ESSENTIAL:

* A demonstrable record of artistic direction and leadership in
previous festivals or arts / culture related projects
* Financial management and marketing experience.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Leadership skills
* Strategic planning and implementation skills
* Grant Writing skills
